Rigorous Testing and Measurements From the Start

Quality assurance begins well before decaffeination, with pre-shipment samples assessed for quality before ever leaving origin. Once coffee arrives at our facility, further tests evaluate moisture and density, defects, and cup profile. We then measure moisture and density again as the coffee enters the process, to attune our parameters perfectly to each coffee.

Continuous Online Tracking of Caffeine and Moisture

We conduct continuous online measurement of caffeine levels in our GCE throughout our process to precisely monitor its extraction, cross-validating performance with hourly samples taken directly from the beans themselves. In addition, we measure moisture throughout the process—every five minutes.

And We’re Not Finished Evaluating Quality Yet

When the process is all finished, we verify moisture levels and water activity to ensure maximum quality and shelf life. Caffeine levels are checked again to confirm our guaranteed 99.9% caffeine-free target has been achieved. This level of care allows all coffee that goes through our facility to retain both traceability and flavor.

We’re Certified (And Your Certifications Stay That Way, Too)

Our process is backed by leading Quality Management Systems methodologies, and we hold FSSC22000 certification as well as full FDA and CFIA certifications for food standards and safety. And unlike many other decaf methods, our process leaves all of a coffee's original certifications intact.

Our process ensures coffee certifications remain intact, including Organic*—a promise chemical solvent processes can't make.

We believe decaf drinkers are the purest coffee drinkers. They drink for the flavor, not the caffeine. We decided to exclusively source Swiss Water® Process coffees for our decaf program because it’s the only chemical-free way to extract the caffeine while preserving the pure, inherent taste of the origin.
