As decaffeinators and coffee lovers, it's our goal that the great-tasting coffee that comes into our facility leaves tasting just as great—only without caffeine. Our clean, chemical-free process ensures as little intervention as possible in the taste of your coffee—allowing it to retain all those wonderful origin flavors and characteristics that producers have painstakingly developed. We have a laser-focused attention to quality, and take copious steps to ensure it is achieved.

Our quality management starts before the coffee has left origin, with pre-shipment samples being assessed for overall quality.  This continues with the arrival of green coffee at our facility. Our pre-process evaluations for quality include moisture and density, defects, cup analysis, and for select coffees, size. We then measure moisture and density again as the coffee enters the process, which informs operating parameters.

During the decaffeination process, we conduct online measurement of caffeine in the GCE to precisely monitor extraction and ensure the process is running smoothly. Our operators also collect bean samples hourly and conduct tests to verify actual caffeine levels, which are used to validate online GCE measurement results. In addition, we continue to measure moisture throughout the process—every five minutes.

Upon completion of the full process, we continue to check moisture levels and water activity to ensure they remain in line with our targets in order to maximize quality and shelf life. Caffeine levels are also checked ensuring that our guaranteed 99.9% caffeine free target is achieved.

Our process is backed by leading Quality Management Systems methodologies, and we hold FSSC22000 certification as well as full FDA and CFIA certifications for food standards and safety.

Through this level of care, we ensure all coffee that goes through our facility retains both traceability and flavor And unlike many other decaf methods, our process leaves all of a coffee's original certifications intact.
