In recent years, Swiss Water has been delighted to showcase a growing selection of decaffeinated coffees from Kenya, an origin less often featured in decaf form than others. This blend of two vibrant coffees from Kenya’s Nyeri region—famed for bright, fruity, dynamic coffees grown in the lush volcanic soils near Mount Kenya—is a celebration of both contributing associations. It's also part of our deepening relationship with Royal Coffee, an importer with whom we've been pleased to partner in working to celebrate the North American coffee community.

Kenya Nyeri Mutheka Kigwandi AB operates within a cooperative society of seven factories and nearly 5,000 smallholder farmers in the Nyeri region, with the Kigwandi Factory specifically representing a group of 842 producers who tend approximately 200 coffee trees apiece. Operations and profit-sharing are cooperatively decided within the group, allowing for a fairer distribution to all.

The Rukira Factory, founded in 1979, is home to the 800 members of Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society. Of these, about 600 members actively farm coffee, contributing approximately 30kg per farmer each harvest. As with Kenya Nyeri Mutheka Kigwandi AB, decisions are cooperatively arrived at within the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society, which represents more than 19 factories and 14,000 member farmers—one of the largest producer groups in Kenya.

We’re proud to be able to offer this lively Kenyan decaf for a limited, Small Batch Series, release!
