Verdant Reserves: Colombia Popayán Reserve

A sweet, balanced collaboration from a talented group of producers highly focused on cup quality.

Popayán Reserve is a regional coffee program in Huila, Colombia, managed by our friends and partners at Cofinet. The project brings together approximately 75 producers in the Popayán area, where coffees are grown in fertile soil shaded by the Andes mountains.

Coffee cherries are carefully sorted and selected for ripeness, then fully washed and dried on raised beds for 5-7 days to its optimal moisture content. Growing conditions here, in the Andes’ volcanic ash along with a mild climate, are known to produce sweet, citrusy coffee profiles.

The Popayán Reserve program supports economic sustainability for its growers by incentivizing quality. Growers can receive premiums of up to 20% above market prices, giving them a direct financial incentive to improve and sustain cup quality.

We are pleased to share this coffee as part of our Verdant Reserves program, offering quality coffees with increased traceability to roasters at accessible price points.
