Introducing Our New Premium Espresso Blend

Introducing Our New Premium Espresso Blend

A versatile espresso blend is the backbone of any coffee menu—and we think most will agree that a truly delicious decaf espresso is just as important.

A New Direction

Recently, we set out to reimagine our Premium Espresso Blend with every coffee lover in mind. Our goal was to create a sweeter, more fruit-forward espresso blend that would taste just as good in milk (or alternatives) as a straight shot—and would also be enjoyable brewed as drip coffee.

A tall order? Not with our expert (and award-winning!) coffee graders, tasters, and roasters. Our coffee team worked together to pinpoint a blend that took a cue from the coffees themselves and led us in a delicious direction. We landed on a new blend composition made up of a nutty, caramelly washed Latin American coffee married with a fruity and chocolatey natural Ethiopian coffee from Sidamo.

Made for Flavor

When refining the blend, we had in mind to maintain those classic notes of chocolate and spice and invite in a lively balance of fruit suited to contemporary palates. Our Senior Director of Coffee, Mike Strumpf, explains that coffee lovers today are looking for an espresso blend made for flavor. Cafes aren’t simply delivering espressos and lattes, but a wide range of plant-based milks and signature beverages for every mood and weather.  Today’s best espressos need to show the character of a coffee—no matter what drink it goes into.

On the Brighter Side

So our updated Premium Espresso Blend is punchier and brighter, allowing for a wide range of expressions in the roaster and in the cup. The blend is built with seasonal components that will shift throughout the year to ensure a consistent flavor profile. With tasting notes of chocolate and brown sugar, berry and biscuit, and a hint of stone fruit, we think we hit a delectable target.
