Process Engineer

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Production

  • Manage silo-to-silo production of decaffeinated coffee
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to plan and meet production targets
  • Measure and report KPIs
  • Prioritize most important tasks as they relate to company goals
  • Make incremental improvements to processes and equipment to achieve better quality and increased capacity
  • Build and improve data collection systems to deliver accurate insights
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and performance
  • Create business cases for capital and maintenance projects
  • Be a process engineering resource to the company

Maintenance

  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment
  • Monitor the performance of equipment and work closely with maintenance to maintain

Quality

  • Engage with quality data and information to drive real time process changes to maintain quality, reduce variability, and meet production demands
  • Drive quality by adherence to internal and external standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and product safety
  • Work with internal and customer quality managers

People

  • Work closely with operators to provide information for them to better manage the process
  • Occasional management of consultants and trades may be required

Risk

  • Continual management of operational risks
  • Identify and characterize threats
  • Prioritize risk reduction measures

Business

  • Understand revenue sources, production L&E and P&L, company financial performance and how process perfects impacts them

Environment and Sustainability

  • Improve water/power/gas consumption performance
  • Improve waste water and air emission performance
  • Become a leader in environmentally responsible decaffeination
  • Responsible for quarterly reporting

Safety

  • Maintain high awareness of the risks of the process
  • Follow company standards and procedures
  • Skills:

Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, process modeling tools, statistical analyses tools)

  • Experience in process automation (logic design, programming) is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well developed interpersonal/communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Negotiating and budgeting skills
  • Knowledge of food science and technology
  • Travel may be required

Performance Expectations

  • Play a leadership role as a champion of the SWISS WATER® brand and the quality positioning of the brand
  • Keep abreast of new developments in related food science and process technologies.
  • Make decisions with a clear understanding of and focus on company objectives and goals.
  • Consult with specialized disciplines, including analytical chemistry, statistics, microbiology, engineering and production
  • Work effectively with other members of the Operations group to achieve corporate objectives
  • Involve others in decisions to build ownership for changes
  • Make appropriate recommendations and communicate relevant information in a timely manner as necessary ensure new technologies are effectively integrated and to ensure the company is in compliance at all times with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the identification, testing and selection of process equipment and process control improvements
  • Continually develop coffee knowledge

Internal Interactions:

  • Works closely with Quality Manager, Process Supervisor and other members of the Operations Division
  • Interacts with the Senior Management Team

External Interactions:

  • Will interact with external vendors, suppliers

    Compensation:

    • $90,000 - $120,000 per year
