We’re pleased to offer a new Colombia Excelso EP coffee with expanded traceability from the Anserma Cooperative.

Founded in 1970, the Anserma Cooperative today represents more than 1770 producers in the western part of Colombia, in a region on the Andean slopes known as the Colombian Coffee Axis. Primarily comprised of smallholder farms in or near the Caldas department—specifically Anserma, Risaralda, San José, Belacazar, and Viterbo—the cooperative prioritizes resource management as a means to help its member farmers increase quality and, thereby, income.

Through our partnership with RGC Coffee, we’ve connected with this 54-year-old cooperative as part of our ongoing initiative to offer our roaster partners increased traceability on coffees through all harvest seasons and price points. The cooperative itself has gained recognition for numerous social and sustainability initiatives, such as implementing solar panels at their mill, septic system installation in residential areas to minimize pollution of local waterways, composting, tree planting, and a specialized, discounted medical plan available to cooperative members.

We’re always happy to see the case for social responsibility proved out in the cup with coffees like this from the Anserma Co-op. This coffee is smooth-drinking with a nutty and chocolatey foundation with notes of dried apricot, stonefruit, and roasted almond that we’re certain will satisfy those seeking a traceable, delicious Colombian flavor profile.
