Raspberry | Plum | White Grape | Mango
Gold Mountain Coffee represents more than 70 growers in Nicaragua—but it also represents a powerful movement towards ethical supply chains and social change. Framed as a social enterprise, Gold Mountain works hand in hand with producers, sharing resources, guidance, and quality control.
From consulting agronomists and ripeness experts to processing facilities, Gold Mountain’s scientific resources add up to a real-world toolkit for farmers to promote ideal harvests and high cupping scores—with the end goal of selling higher quality coffee at prices that combat poverty.
Small Batch Series Nicaragua Elixir comes primarily from the farm of Maximino Palacios and Marlene Hernandez (with smaller amounts from Gold Mountain’s farm, Finca Idealista (Benjamin Weiner), along with the farms of Carlos Garcia, Juan Carlos Salgado & Aracely Montenegro, and Yesenia Salgado Lanzas.) As always, traceability is key for our Small Batch Series coffees, as well as Gold Mountain.
Processing took place at Finca Idealista, where long-term experimentation with carbonic maceration has proved delicious results—this coffee being no exception. Elixir is a combination of carbonically macerated coffee cherries and natural process coffees which yield a deep, syrupy profile of raspberry, plum, white grape, and mango.
Beyond operating Finca Idealista’s farm and mill and providing expertise to member farmers, Gold Mountain has many contributions under its belt. To offset climate disruption, the company purchased a parcel of rainforest to protect endangered plants and animals within its habitat. The group has also provided numerous direct social benefits to its community, including extending farmers access to credit, supplying running water to schools, and installing water catchment and filtration systems.
We’re pleased to be working with Gold Mountain Coffee Growers and the contributing farming families to present this delicious decaf.
