Our Small Batch Series is a program of limited offerings that features hyper seasonal, highly traceable, and really tasty coffees.
This special lot comes from the Shantawene mill which was established to specifically receive and process Organic coffees from farmers either side of the Bombe Mountains in the Sidama Zone of Ethiopia. Shantawene mill, one of fifteen wet mills operated by exporter Daye Bensa, has become the central location for unique and separated processing experiments and drying strategies, giving more opportunities for producers in the area. Led by a well-organized team including agronomist Atkilt Dejene who cut her teeth with award winning Gesha Village, Shantawene mill is turning out outstanding quality coffees and we’re very excited to share this unique lot with you.
This coffee comes to us through our friends at Keffa coffee and is the first organic coffee to be sold under their Ardi brand.
Shantawene is made up of Ethiopian heirloom varieties grown between 1,995–2,150 meters above sea level. It is fully washed and certified Organic. In the cup, we find notes of raspberry, peach candy, dried apricot, chocolate, red grape, and caramel.
