In May
2002, a Seattle-based roaster retailer implemented a SWISS
WATER® Process launch program to grow volume and
margin. In-store POS was put in place, and baristas
were educated about consumer benefits. Prices were
increased by $0.10 per drink and $2.00 per lb whole bean, and
volumetric data was collected for four weeks prior to
the test and during the test for four weeks.
Positive results were achieved, as drink revenue increased 18%
while whole bean revenue increase 97%. Total
monthly decaf retail revenues increased by 32%, and no consumer
complaints were received.
This study is but one example of how SWISS WATER®
Process coffees can drive total store revenues and
profitability, using POS materials and staff education
to overcome any potential objections. In the end,
consumers will receive a higher quality chemical free decaffeinated
coffee which reflects very positively on the image of the retailer
and also grows revenues.
