Identifying SWISS WATER® Decaffeinated Coffees

NEW LOGO
NEW LOGO
The SWISS WATER® Process is broadly available, and widely used within the coffee industry. Wholesale and retail roasters use SWISS WATER® decaf for their decaffeinated needs, and their unique brands. Many add the SWISS WATER® logo and/or the SWISS WATER® name to their packages, which identifies that the decaffeination method used is the SWISS WATER® Process.
This sub-branding can take many forms.

Here are some guidelines to help in determining whether your favorite coffee and coffee brand is decaffeinated using the SWISS WATER® Process

Specialty Coffee Houses and Cafés

Look for the term SWISS WATER® Process, or SWISS WATER® Decaf on the menu board, or on in-store signage. Our distinctive logo may be displayed somewhere in the store, and/or on whole bean packages. If in doubt, ask the barista which process was used to decaffeinate the café's coffees.

On Packaging and at Grocery Stores

In grocery stores, look for the logo or term, SWISS WATER® Process on packaging or on the label of bulk bean bins. Ideally, the logo will be up front and center, however you may need to check the side or back panels.

“Water Process” Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Chemical-Free

It has come to our attention that other decaffeinators use terms like “natural process”, “European process”, “Switzerland process” and “water process” as descriptors. Don’t be fooled. These process descriptors don’t guarantee that chemicals were not used to decaffeinate the coffee. There is only one SWISS WATER® Process.

If you have concerns whether or not your favorite coffee is decaffeinated using the SWISS WATER® Process, please refer to the Find a Retailer section of this website or contact our Marketing Department at 1.800.667.6181 x114 or info AT swisswater.com
